The Opening Line - Week 6
Article #3 of The Opening Line is back for winners here on the Rant on Podcast and guys, let’s get a solid week of sports gambling in. This week we have some pretty big games that I’m sure, if you’re a degenerate like me, you’re gambling on them.
Last week we went 3-4 in college football thanks to Oregon choking; then we flushed that turd down the toilet from the week prior and went a solid 4-1 on the week in the NFL. So like always, let’s get started. And if you like my picks, remember to follow me on The Action app @Nicknewton
Texas vs Oklahoma (-3.5)
Ever since Casey Thompson took over the QB position for Texas, they’ve just been a different team; for the better. Bijan Robinson has been a force for Texas, but Oklahoma has had a pretty solid defense this year especially for a Big 12 team. This game is is going to be a classic.
Pick: Texas +3.5
UTSA vs Western Kentucky (-3.5)
If you’ve followed me from week 1, you should all know I am on the bandwagon of the Roadrunners. UTSA has the wide receivers in Zakhari Franklin, Joshua Cepheus, and Decorian Clark that’ll take advantage of the Hilltoppers’ weakness. That right there sold me enough on taking the Roadrunners.
Pick: UTSA +3.5
Penn State vs Iowa (-2)
I’m my opinion and I’m sure many others’ this game should be the game of the week. #3 vs #4 battle it out for MAJOR playoff implications. Last week I thought Iowa was in a rough spot against Maryland; then kickoff happened and 3000 turnovers later, Iowa cruised on to an easy win on the road. Penn State has been one of those teams that seems like they’re just getting by. Look for Iowa running back Tyler Goodson to be a star tomorrow. Add me to the wagon of Iowa and maybe, just maybe we’ll see them in the College Football Playoff.

Colts vs Ravens (-7)
Monday night football could be a banger of a Monday night for (wait for it) the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore Defense is going to make Carson Wentz aka 2 sprains a living hell all night. Lamar Jackson is going to come out and show the NFL the MVP he was 2 years ago. This one goes out to Fuller Goldsmith.
Pick: Ravens -7
Kansas City Chiefs vs Buffalo Bills (-2.5)
Another classic Sunday Night Football game. This game has the revenge game for the Bills written all over it. The Buffalo Bills have been a brick wall, shutting out 2 NFL teams this year and that’s pretty hard to do. And ever since that loss to the Steelers, they’re 3-1 ATS. But those teams they shut out were the Dolphins and the Texans. Both teams also without their starting QB. Mahomes and the arsenal of weapons they have will be a problem for this Buffalo Defense.
Pick: Chiefs +2.5
